Magrão began his professional football journey in Brazil. From 1992 to 1994, he played for Palmeiras. After that, he moved to other Brazilian clubs. In 1995, he played for Goiás, where he scored 10 goals in 13 games. He also played briefly for Coritiba in 1996.

Playing Football in Japan

In 1996, Magrão moved to Japan to play for Verdy Kawasaki. He had a great start, scoring 13 goals in 14 league games in his first season. He continued to play for Verdy Kawasaki in 1997 before returning to Brazil.

Back to Brazil and a Stop in Spain

After his time in Japan, Magrão returned to Palmeiras in 1998. He then had a short experience playing in Spain for Badajoz in the Segunda División during the 1998-1999 season.

He soon came back to Brazil, playing for Grêmio in 1999. He scored 5 goals in 14 games for them. In 2000, he played for Botafogo. In 2001, he joined São Caetano, where he scored 11 goals in 23 matches.

Final Years with Gamba Osaka

Magrão returned to Japan in 2002 to play for Gamba Osaka. This was a very successful period for him. In 2002, he scored an impressive 22 goals in 29 league games. He continued to be a key player for Gamba Osaka in 2003, scoring 15 goals in 24 games. He played his final season with Gamba Osaka in 2004 before ending his professional playing career.
