Maite Carranza Gil-Dolz del Castellar (born 25 February 1958) is a Spanish writer and educator. She mostly writes in the Catalan language. Maite Carranza has won many important awards for her books and TV scripts. These include the Premio Crítica Serra d'Or and the Spanish National Prize for Children's and Juvenile Literature.

Maite Carranza's Early Life and Education
Maite Carranza was born in Barcelona, Spain. She studied anthropology and finished her degree in 1980. Anthropology is the study of human societies and cultures. After her studies, she taught at a secondary school for ten years.
Becoming a Writer: Books for Young Readers
Maite Carranza published her first novel in 1986. It was called Ostres, tu, quin cacau! This book won an award for children's and young adult literature. One of her most famous works is the Trilogía de las Brujas (which means "Trilogy of Witches"). This popular series has been translated into more than twenty languages around the world. In 1999, she wrote her first novel for adults, Sin invierno. This was also her first book written in Spanish.
Writing for Television: Screenplays and Awards
In the 1990s, Maite Carranza earned a master's degree in Audiovisual Writing. This helped her start writing scripts for television in 1992. She wrote many successful soap operas for a TV channel called TV3. Some of these popular shows include Poble Nou, Secrets de família, and Nissaga de poder. Her show Poble Nou won the TP de Oro award. Another series she wrote, Pinnic , received a Premio Ondas award. Maite Carranza also began teaching screenwriting at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
Award-Winning Books and Inspiration
In 2011, Maite Carranza won the Spanish National Prize for Children's and Juvenile Literature
. She won this award for her novel Paraules emmetzinades (which means "Poisoned words"). This book was inspired by a real-life event where a young person was held captive. In 2014, she received another important award, the Premi Cervantes Chico de literatura infantil i juvenil, for all her amazing work.
