Majlis Bahasa Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia facts for kids
MABBIM stands for the Language Council of Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia. It's an important group that helps plan and watch over how the Malay language develops in its different forms across the region. The council includes three countries: Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
MABBIM first started as MBIM, which meant the "Language Council of Indonesia-Malaysia," on December 29, 1972. Brunei joined this council on November 4, 1985, and that's when MBIM became MABBIM. Singapore also takes part as an observer, which means they watch and learn from the council's work.
