Makoto Kimura (木村 誠, Kimura Makoto, born June 10, 1979) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender during his career.

Makoto Kimura's Football Journey
Makoto Kimura was born in Fukui Prefecture, Japan, on June 10, 1979. He started his football journey playing for Maruoka High School from 1995 to 1997. After high school, he continued to play football while attending Komazawa University from 1998 to 2001.
Starting Professional Play
After finishing university, Kimura joined Kawasaki Frontale, a professional football club in the J2 League, in 2002. The J2 League is Japan's second-highest football division. In his first couple of years, he didn't play much. However, in the 2004 season, he became a key player, playing in many matches. That year, Kawasaki Frontale won the J2 League championship! This big win meant the team was promoted to the J1 League, which is the top football league in Japan.
Moving to New Teams
In 2005, even though Frontale was in the J1 League, Makoto Kimura didn't get to play as much. So, in 2006, he decided to move to another J2 League club, Montedio Yamagata. Here, he played many games as a left-sided defender.
He stayed with Montedio Yamagata for several years. In 2009, Montedio Yamagata also got promoted to the J1 League, just like Kawasaki Frontale had.
Later Career and Retirement
In 2010, Makoto Kimura moved to Zweigen Kanazawa, a team in the Japan Football League. This league is another level of professional football in Japan. He played many matches for them.
His final move was in 2011, when he joined Maruoka Phoenix, a club in the Japanese Regional Leagues. These leagues are below the national professional leagues. The club later changed its name to Sakai Phoenix. He continued to play for Sakai Phoenix until the end of the 2015 season, when he decided to retire from professional football.
Throughout his career, Makoto Kimura played a total of 143 league matches and scored 7 goals.
