Maksim Sergeyevich Kanunnikov (born on July 14, 1991) is a Russian former football player. He played as a forward, which means he was usually trying to score goals for his team.
Club Career
Maksim Kanunnikov started playing for the youth team of Zenit in 2009. Soon after, he began training with the main team. He made his first appearance in the Russian Premier League on August 23, 2009. This was a big step for him as a young player.
His first goal in the Russian Premier League came on May 10, 2010, when he scored against Amkar Perm.
In January 2011, Kanunnikov was loaned to Tom Tomsk for the 2011–12 season. This meant he played for Tom Tomsk for a while before returning to Zenit.
Later, on March 2, 2018, he left Rubin Kazan by agreement. Just a few days later, on March 7, 2018, he signed with SKA-Khabarovsk. He played for them until the end of that season.
On July 27, 2018, Maksim signed a one-year contract with Krylia Sovetov Samara. He stayed with Krylia Sovetov until the end of the 2021–22 season.
International Career
Maksim Kanunnikov also played for the Russia national football team. He made his first appearance for the national team on May 26, 2014. This was in a friendly game against Slovakia. Russia won that game 1–0.
He was chosen to be part of Russia's team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. This is a huge tournament where countries from all over the world compete. He played his first World Cup game against Belgium on June 22, 2014. He played for the whole game, which took place at the famous Maracanã Stadium in Brazil.
