Malcolm Barrett (born April 22, 1980) is an American actor. He is most famous for playing the brilliant time traveler Rufus Carlin in the NBC television series Timeless.

Early Life and School
Malcolm Barrett was born and grew up in Brooklyn, a part of New York City. He went to Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan. He graduated in 1998 along with two other future actors, Telly Leung and Billy Eichner.
Acting Career
Barrett began his acting career in the early 2000s. He appeared in popular TV shows based in New York, like the Law & Order series. He also had guest roles in shows like The Sopranos and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Rising Star on TV and in Movies
From 2009 to 2010, Barrett played the scientist Lem Hewitt in the comedy show Better Off Ted. This role helped more people recognize his talent. He also acted in the Academy Award-winning movie The Hurt Locker, where he played Sergeant Foster.
Over the years, he has appeared in many other TV shows. He was a guest star on Monk as a man obsessed with the lottery. He also had a small part in the series finale of The Office.

From 2016 to 2018, Barrett had a main role in the NBC show Timeless. He played Rufus Carlin, a smart and funny engineer who pilots a time machine. This role is one of his most well-known.
