The Mammoth Lakes Film Festival is a cool five-day event where people watch independent movies. It takes place in Mammoth Lakes, California, which is a mountain town in the Eastern Sierra.
The festival was started by Shira Dubrovner in 2015. Paul Sbrizzi helped plan the movies shown. It happens every year around Memorial Day weekend. The festival was even named one of the "Top 50 Festivals Worth The Entry Fee" by Moviemaker Magazine in 2016 and 2017!

Festival Highlights Each Year
2015 Festival
The very first Mammoth Lakes Film Festival happened from May 27 to May 30, 2015. It started with a film called Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine. The festival ended with the movie Cartel Land. A group of expert judges helped pick the winning films.
2016 Festival
The second festival took place from May 25 to May 29, 2016. It kicked off with the film Operation Avalanche (film). A special award called the Sierra Spirit Award was given to director Joe Dante. More film experts were part of the judging team this year.
2017 Festival
The third festival was held from May 24 to May 28, 2017. The opening film was Up In Smoke. After the movie, actor Tommy Chong was there to answer questions from the audience. The Sierra Spirit Award was given to filmmaker John Sayles. Actor Vincent Spano presented the award after a showing of Baby It's You (film).
