Maneet Chauhan was born on October 27, 1976, in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. She is a famous Indian American chef and a well-known face on television. Maneet used to be the head chef at several popular restaurants in cities like Chicago, Nashville, and New York. Today, she is best known as a judge on the TV show Chopped, which airs on the Food Network.

Maneet Chauhan has also appeared on other TV shows such as The Next Iron Chef, The View, Iron Chef America, and the Today show. She was also a judge on the final episode of Worst Cooks in America. Maneet has shown her amazing cooking skills by winning the Food Network's Tournament of Champions twice, in 2021 and again in 2024.

Maneet Chauhan's Journey in Cooking

Maneet Chauhan grew up in a Punjabi Sikh family. She started her journey in the world of cooking by studying at the WelcomGroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration in Manipal, India. There, she earned a bachelor's degree in Hotel Management. After that, she went to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, to learn even more about cooking. While she was training, she worked as an apprentice chef with big hotel groups in India.

In 2000, Maneet took on a management role at a new restaurant in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. She led a team and helped the restaurant grow, doubling its size. By 2003, when she was just 27 years old, she became the head chef at a new restaurant called Vermilion in Chicago, Illinois. Later, in 2007, she moved to New York City to open another Vermilion restaurant there. Her cooking style is often called "global fusion," which means she mixes flavors and techniques from different parts of the world, but always with strong roots in Indian cuisine. Maneet also cares about helping others. She has taken part in events to raise money for children in India who need help and for people affected by a typhoon in the Philippines.

Cookbooks by Maneet Chauhan

Maneet Chauhan has written several cookbooks, sharing her recipes and cooking knowledge with the world.

  • Her first cookbook was called Flavors of My World: A Culinary Tour Through 25 Countries. It was published by Favorite Recipes Press.
  • She also co-authored a book called The Journey with Katy Sparks, Alex Raij, Rita Sodi, and Kathleen Squires.
  • Her most recent cookbook, Chaat, was released in October 2020. She wrote this book with Jody Eddy. It features more than eighty Indian recipes, focusing on popular street food and local dishes.

Maneet Chauhan's Restaurant

Maneet Chauhan opened her very first restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee. It is named "Chauhan Ale and Masala House." This restaurant is quite large, able to serve 150 people, and it first opened its doors in August 2014.
