Maneet Chauhan was born on October 27, 1976, in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. She is a famous Indian American chef and TV star. You might know her as a judge on the popular show Chopped on the Food Network.

Before becoming a TV personality, Maneet was the head chef at several well-known restaurants. These restaurants were in big cities like Chicago, Nashville, and New York. She has also appeared on other Food Network shows. These include The Next Iron Chef and Iron Chef America. Maneet even won the Tournament of Champions competition in both 2021 and 2024!

Becoming a Chef

Maneet Chauhan grew up in a Sikh family. She started her journey to become a chef in India. She studied at the WelcomGroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration. This school is part of Manipal Academy of Higher Education in India. There, she earned a degree in Hotel Management.

After that, she moved to the United States. She continued her cooking education at the Culinary Institute of America. This famous school is in Hyde Park, New York. While learning, she worked as an apprentice chef. She gained experience at several top hotel groups in India.

In 2000, Maneet took on a management role. She helped open a new restaurant in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. She led a team and helped the restaurant grow. In 2003, when she was only 27, she became the head chef of Vermilion in Chicago. Later, she moved to New York City to open another Vermilion restaurant. Her cooking style mixes different world flavors with Indian food. Maneet also helps others by supporting charities for children in India. She also helped with typhoon relief efforts in the Philippines.

Her Cookbooks

Maneet Chauhan has written several cookbooks. Her first book was called Flavors of My World: A Culinary Tour Through 25 Countries. It shared recipes from many different places.

She also co-wrote a book called The Journey. Her most recent cookbook is Chaat. It came out in 2020. This book has over eighty Indian recipes. It focuses on delicious street food and local dishes.

Her Restaurant

Maneet Chauhan opened her first restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee. It is called "Chauhan Ale and Masala House". The restaurant is quite large and can seat 150 people. It first opened its doors in August 2014.
