Manish Arora is a famous fashion designer from India. He lives in New Delhi. For a short time in 2011, he was the main designer for the women's clothing line at the French fashion house Paco Rabanne. He left that role in May 2012.

Manish grew up in Mumbai. He was studying something else when he decided to follow his dream of fashion. He applied to the National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi. He finished his studies in 1994 and even won the Best Student Award!

Starting His Own Labels

In 1997, Manish started his very own fashion brand called "Manish Arora". He began selling his designs in India. Three years later, he took part in the first-ever India Fashion Week in New Delhi. He also showed his designs at the Hong Kong Fashion Week.

In 2001, Arora launched his second brand, "Fish Fry". This line was inspired by sportswear. He created it with the help of the sports clothing company Reebok.

Growing His Business

Manish opened his first main store, Manish Arora Fish Fry, in New Delhi in 2002. The next year, he opened a second store in Mumbai. He had another successful show at India Fashion Week in 2003. This led to his designs being sold in Paris and helped him start selling his clothes to other countries.

In 2004, Manish won the Best Women's Prêt Designer award. This was at the first Indian Fashion Awards held in Bombay. A company called MC2 Diffusion Paris also started helping him sell his designs around the world.

International Recognition

Manish Arora took part in the Miami Fashion Week in May 2005. There, he won the Designer's Choice for Best Collection Award.

He made a very successful first appearance at London Fashion Week in September 2005. Both the media and buyers loved his work. In December 2005, he opened a new store in Lodhi Colony Market in New Delhi. Some of his designs were also shown at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. This was part of an exhibition called "Global Local".

A major Indian magazine, Outlook, named him "Best Indian Fashion Designer" in March 2006. Manish opened his first Manish Arora store in Villa Moda, Kuwait. He also opened another Manish Arora Fish Fry store in New Delhi that same year.

Exciting Collaborations

In 2007, the first Fish Fry for Reebok store opened in New Delhi. Arora also worked with the make-up company MAC to create a special make-up collection. He even teamed up with Swatch to design a limited edition of watches. In 2008, Reebok launched a new 'RBK Fish Fry Collection' designed by Manish Arora.

Manish also created a brand called "Indian by Manish Arora". This brand is made for the growing market of women's clothing in India. He was invited to show his collection at the “Fashion in Motion” exhibition in London in September 2007.

By 2009, Manish had four stores in India. He also sold his designs in more than 80 stores worldwide. He also partnered with BIBA Apparels Pvt. Ltd. to grow his brand even more.

In 2012, Arora showed off his new jewelry line. He created it with the brand Amrapali. This collection included rings, necklaces, and pendants.

Some of his amazing work was also shown at the Victoria and Albert Museum. This was part of the Fabric of India Exhibition in 2014-2015.

Manish's Unique Style

Many people call Manish Arora "the John Galliano of India." He is famous for using very bright and colorful designs. He also uses fun, playful patterns in his clothes. His designs mix traditional Indian crafts, like embroidery and beading, with Western clothing styles.
