About Manolo Cardona
Manolo Cardona was born in Popayán, Colombia, on April 25, 1977. When he was seven years old, his family started calling him "Manolo." This nickname later became his stage name.
His mother, Nancy Molano, is a psychologist, a merchant, and an astrologer. His father, Enrique Javier Cardona, was a politician and served as the mayor of Popayán. Manolo has three brothers and one sister.
When he was 18, Manolo moved to Cali, Colombia. He studied finance and international relations there. Later, he moved to Spain to study film, which helped him become the actor he is today.
Manolo is also known for helping others. He supports many charities, especially those that focus on children's education and well-being.
Manolo's Acting Journey
Manolo Cardona started modeling when he was very young. His older brother helped him get his first modeling contract. At 14, he filmed his first TV commercial. He then modeled for many TV ads, photoshoots, and fashion shows in Colombia.
In 1995, at age 18, Manolo began his acting career. He joined a popular Colombian TV series called Padres e hijos and acted in it for three years. In 1998, he got his first main role in a TV show called Carolina Barrantes. A year later, he starred in the show ¿Por qué diablos?. In 2001, he appeared in Amor a mil, another Colombian TV series.
In 2002, Manolo signed a special contract with Telemundo and Argos Comunicación. In 2003, he starred in his first Mexican TV series, Ladrón de Corazones. In this show, he played Gustavo Velazco, a man who returns home to get revenge and clear his name. He also hosted the Spanish version of Temptation Island for Telemundo. Later, he played Sebastián in the Mexican TV show Gitanas.
Manolo's first movie role was in 2005. He starred in the film Rosario Tijeras. This movie was based on a book and was nominated for a Goya Award, which is a big film award in Spain. In 2005, the movie was shown in North America for the first time at a festival in Hollywood.
In 2005, he also starred in the movie La mujer de mi hermano. In 2006, he filmed Madrid-Mexico. After a short break, Manolo returned to TV in 2006. He joined the Telemundo show Marina.
On September 27, 2007, Manolo received the "Latin Pride Award" in Boston. This award celebrates the achievements of Hispanic people in different fields. In 2008, Manolo appeared in the Disney movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
Also in 2008, Manolo starred in El Cartel de los Sapos for Caracol TV. This TV series was filmed in many places, including Miami, New York, and Madrid. The series was so popular that a movie, The Snitch Cartel, was made based on it. Both the series and the film were inspired by a book written by Andres Lopes.
In 2008, Manolo played a main role in the film Undertow. He played Santiago, a painter. The film won the Audience Award for World Cinema Drama at the Sundance Film Festival, which is a very important film festival.
Manolo also acted in La Ultima Muerte in 2009. He was also in the third season of the Spanish TV show Sin tetas no hay paraíso. In this show, he played a police officer named Martin La Roca.
Manolo and his brother Juan produced and directed a short film called Risas Inocentes. This film was made by his own film company, 11:11 Films. More recently, his company made a deal with Viacom International Studios. Manolo also starred as the main character, Alex Guzmán, in the Netflix series Who Killed Sara?.
