The Mantra Towers of Chevron Surfers Paradise are a group of three tall buildings in Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, Australia. They used to be called the Towers of Chevron Renaissance. These buildings are part of a large project called the Chevron Renaissance development. This project also includes the Chevron Renaissance Shopping Centre, which has shops, restaurants, and entertainment. The shopping centre is located right at the bottom of the towers. These towers are mostly used for homes and holiday apartments.
History of the Towers
The towers were built on the land where an old hotel, the Chevron Hotel, once stood. That hotel stopped working in the mid-1980s and was taken down in 1987. The land was empty for many years. Then, in the late 1990s, a company called Raptis Group bought the land and started building.
Building the Towers of Chevron Renaissance began in September 2001. All three towers were finished by December 2004. They were given the names Skyline, Skyline North, and Skyline Central. These names were chosen to honor the Skyline Bar, which was a famous part of the old Chevron Hotel. The Skyline Bar first opened way back in 1957.
The first tower, Skyline, was completed in January 2003. The second tower, Skyline North, was finished in May 2004. The third tower, Skyline Central, was completed in October 2004.
Over the years, different companies have managed the towers. In 2002, a company called S8 Ltd bought the rights to manage the first tower, Skyline. Later, in 2006, a hotel group named Accor took over the management of all three towers from S8.
In 2015, a property management company called Mantra Group bought the management rights. They then changed the name of the towers to the Mantra Towers of Chevron Surfers Paradise.
What Makes Them Special
The complex covers a large area in Surfers Paradise. It stretches from the Gold Coast Highway on one side to Ferny Avenue on the other. It is also located near the Circle on Cavill buildings.
The three towers have different heights. Skyline tower is 38 storeys tall. Skyline North is the tallest at 50 storeys. Skyline Central is 40 storeys high.
Together, the three towers have 711 apartments. They also offer many cool features for guests and residents. There is a swimming pool and garden on the fifth floor. You can also find indoor and outdoor lap pools for swimming. The complex has gym facilities for working out. There is even a private movie theatre and a club lounge for people to relax in.
One of the penthouses, which is a very fancy apartment on the 39th floor, was sold for a lot of money. It set a new record for apartment prices on the Gold Coast in early 2018.
