Manuel García Ferré (born October 8, 1929 – died March 28, 2013) was a super talented Spanish-Argentine artist. He was famous for creating amazing animated TV shows and movies, and also for drawing fun cartoons. He brought many beloved characters to life for kids in Argentina and across Latin America!

Manuel García Ferré's Life Story
Manuel García Ferré was born in Almería, Spain, in 1929. When he was 18, in 1947, he moved to Argentina. There, he worked for companies that made advertisements while he was studying to become an architect.
In 1952, his cartoon character, Pi Pío, was chosen to be published in a very important magazine called Billiken. This was a big step for him!
Later, in 1964, he started his very own children's magazine called Anteojito. This magazine became super popular! In the 1970s, at its best, it sold about 300,000 copies of each issue. That's a lot of magazines!
His Amazing Cartoons and TV Shows
Manuel García Ferré also had his own animation studio. He created many animated TV series and movies. One of his most famous works was Hijitus. This cartoon show was on TV between 1967 and 1974 on Channel 13.
Hijitus was very special because it was the first animated TV show ever made in Argentina! It was also shown in other countries in Latin America and became the most successful cartoon show of its kind there.
Manuel García Ferré continued to manage Anteojito magazine until its very last issue in 2002. He also worked as an editor for another magazine called Muy Interesante from 1985 to 2007.
In 2009, the government of Buenos Aires honored him. They called him an "Illustrious Citizen of Buenos Aires." This means he was recognized as a very important and respected person in the city.
