Manuel Lanzini (born February 15, 1993) is a professional football player from Argentina. He plays as an attacking midfielder for the club River Plate.
He started his career at River Plate, where he grew up playing in their youth teams. He even scored the fastest goal ever in the famous "Superclásico" derby, just 43 seconds into the game! He also played for Fluminense for a while.
In 2014, Lanzini moved to Al Jazira in the UAE. A year later, he joined West Ham in England on loan. He later signed with West Ham permanently and was a key player until 2018. That year, he had a serious knee injury. Manuel worked hard to get back to playing. He was a reliable player for West Ham for five more seasons. His time there ended with a big win: the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League title.
Lanzini first played for the Argentina national team in 2017. Because of his knee injury in 2018, he missed the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He has played only one more game for Argentina since then, in 2019. People say he is very good at dribbling and moving past defenders. He is nicknamed "La Joya," which means "the jewel."
