Manuel López-Quiroga Miquel (born January 30, 1899 – died December 13, 1988) was a famous Spanish composer. Most people knew him as Maestro Quiroga. He was especially good at writing coplas, cuplés, and zarzuelas. These are all types of Spanish songs or musical plays. He was also a talented pianist. Maestro Quiroga was part of a famous songwriting team called Quintero, León and Quiroga. Together, they created some of Spain's most popular songs in the middle of the 20th century.

Life and Music of Maestro Quiroga
Maestro Quiroga was born in Seville, Spain. In 1934, he started working full-time on music. He taught new artists and composed many songs. He wrote over 5,000 musical pieces! Many of these became very popular in Spain during the 1940s and 1950s.
Since he didn't write the words for his songs, he always worked with lyricists. These were people who wrote the song lyrics. Some of his famous lyricist friends included Salvador Valverde, Antonio Quintero, and Rafael de León.
Some of his most popular songs are Tatuaje, Rocio, La Paralla, María de la O, Ojos verdes, Te Lo Juro Yo, and La Zarzamora.
Maestro Quiroga also wrote music for the stage. In 1941, he wrote a zarzuela called La reina fea. A zarzuela is a Spanish musical play that mixes singing and spoken parts. This play was for the famous singer Pepita Embil. Her son, the well-known tenor Plácido Domingo, has also recorded some of Quiroga's songs.
Maestro Quiroga passed away in Madrid, Spain, on December 13, 1988.
