Marc Evan Jackson was born on August 21, 1970, in Buffalo, New York. He grew up nearby in Amherst, New York, with his brother and sister.
He finished high school in 1988. Then, he went to Calvin College and graduated in 1992. He studied philosophy and also took classes in political science and environmental studies. While in college, he enjoyed being in school plays.
Before becoming an actor, Marc worked on boats during his summers. After college, he spent a few years working on large sailing ships called schooners. He also worked at a radio station in Michigan, hosting a morning show.
