Marc Evan Jackson's Acting Career
Starting with Improv and Comedy
Marc Evan Jackson began his acting journey with an improv group called River City Improv. Improv is a type of acting where performers make up scenes and dialogue on the spot, without a script. He joined the group after going to a rehearsal to play the piano. Later, he became part of The Second City Detroit, a famous comedy theater, in 1998.
In 2001, Marc moved to Los Angeles. He taught improv at Second City Hollywood. In 2003, he joined an improv group called "The 313." This group was named after Detroit's area code because most of its members, like Keegan-Michael Key, were from Detroit. The 313 still performs at comedy festivals today.
Marc met Mark Gagliardi and Ben Acker at Second City Hollywood. They invited him to join their new show, Thrilling Adventure Hour. He became a main actor, playing a character named Sparks Nevada, Marshal on Mars. This show has been performed live since 2005 and became a popular podcast in 2011.
Marc also performs in a comedy duo with Carrie Clifford. They play characters named Sky and Nancy Collins, who are trying stand-up comedy for the first time. They have appeared on TV shows like Last Comic Standing.
In 2011, Marc starred in a web series called Fox Compton. He has worked many times with the director of that series, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, including in the movies The Kings of Summer and Kong: Skull Island. Marc has also made guest appearances in many other TV shows, such as Key & Peele, Modern Family, and Black-ish.

He also had a recurring role in The Good Place as Shawn. Shawn is a strict supervisor from the Bad Place. Marc hosted The Good Place: The Podcast and Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The Podcast for NBC, where he interviewed the cast and crew.

Marc Evan Jackson is also well-known for his voice acting. He has lent his voice to movies like President Wolfman and web series such as Funny or Die Presents: Brick Novax's Diary.
