Marc Moulin was a famous Belgian musician.

Marc Moulin (born August 16, 1942 – died September 26, 2008) was a talented musician and journalist from Belgium. He played many kinds of music, especially jazz. Marc Moulin was known for leading the jazz-rock group Placebo in the 1970s. He also joined the band Aksak Maboul in 1977. A year later, he started the pop group Telex. Marc Moulin was a very important jazz musician in Belgium for over 30 years.

About Marc Moulin

Marc Moulin was born in Ixelles, a part of Brussels, Belgium, in 1942. His father, Léo Moulin, was a writer and sociologist. His mother, Jeanine Moulin, was a poet.

Marc started playing the piano in the 1960s. He performed all over Europe. In 1961, he won an award called the Bobby Jaspar trophy for being the best soloist at a music festival.

His first music recording was an album called Jazz Goes Swinging. He made this with The Saint-Tropez Jazz Octet in 1969.

Two years later, in 1971, he formed the band Placebo. His good friend, Philip Catherine, played guitar in the band. Placebo released three albums: Ball of Eyes, 1973, and Placebo. They also released one single record. The group stopped playing together in 1976.

After Placebo, Marc Moulin started a new band called Telex in 1978. In this band, he worked with Michel Moers (vocals) and Dan Lacksman (synthesizer). Their music style changed to electro pop, which uses electronic sounds. Telex even represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 1980. They finished 17th out of 19 countries.

Marc Moulin also worked as a music producer for other artists. He helped create music for singers like Lio and Alain Chamfort. He also worked with bands like Sparks.

During the 1980s, Marc Moulin worked a lot in radio. He produced radio shows and often appeared on them. He also wrote for different Belgian magazines, including Télémoustique.

Marc Moulin passed away on September 26, 2008, at the age of 66. He had throat cancer.
