*Club domestic league appearances and goals |
Marcelo Pereira Surcin (born on February 1, 1971), known as Marcelinho Carioca, is a former Brazilian footballer. He played as an attacking midfielder. People called him Pé de Anjo (Angel's Foot). This was because he was incredibly good at free kicks. He scored 78 goals from free kicks out of his 513 total goals!
Marcelinho is a true legend for Corinthians. He scored 206 goals in 420 matches for the team, known as the Timão, between 1994 and 2001. He helped them win 8 big trophies. These included two national titles in a row and the very first FIFA Club World Cup in 2000. Even with all his club success, he did not play much for the Brazilian national team. This was sometimes due to disagreements with coaches.
