Marcelo Pereira Surcin (born 1 February 1971), known as Marcelinho Carioca, is a former Brazilian footballer. He played as an attacking midfielder. People called him Pé de Anjo (Angel's Foot). This was because he was amazing at free kicks. He scored 80 goals from free kicks!
Marcelinho is one of the greatest players in the history of Corinthians. He scored 206 goals in 420 matches for the team. He played for them from 1994 to 2001. He helped Corinthians win 8 trophies. This included two national titles in a row. He also won the first FIFA Club World Cup in 2000. Even with all his club success, he didn't play much for the national team. This was often due to disagreements with coaches.

Marcelinho's Club Journey
Starting at Flamengo
Marcelinho Carioca began his career at Flamengo. He won several important titles there. These included the Brazilian Cup in 1990. He also won the Rio de Janeiro State Championship in 1991. In 1992, he helped Flamengo win the Brazilian National Championship.
Becoming a Legend at Corinthians
In December 1993, Marcelinho joined Corinthians. He quickly became a key player. In 1995, he helped them win the Brazilian Cup. He also won the São Paulo State Championship in 1995 and 1997.
In mid-1997, he moved to Valencia in Spain. He played 11 games there and scored one goal. But he soon returned to Corinthians.
His second time at Corinthians was even more successful. He won the national championship twice, in 1998 and 1999. In 2000, he helped the team win the very first FIFA Club World Championship. He also won the São Paulo State Championship again in 2001.
Other Teams and Farewell
After his second spell at Corinthians, Marcelinho played for several other clubs. He played for Santos in Brazil. Then he went to Gamba Osaka in Japan. He also played for Vasco da Gama in Brazil. He had a short time with Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia. Later, he played for Ajaccio in France.
He returned to Brazil to play for Brasiliense. In 2006, he signed with Corinthians for a third time. However, he only stayed for six months. He then joined Santo André. He helped them get promoted to Brazil's First Division in 2008.
Marcelinho played a special farewell match for Corinthians in 2010. It was a friendly game against Huracán. In 2012, he even played a few games for the Corinthians beach soccer team.
