Playing Career in Brazil
Marcos Paulo started his football journey in Brazil. From 1991 to 1995, he played for Botafogo. After that, he moved to Joinville in 1996. He also played for other well-known Brazilian clubs like Grêmio in 1997 and Criciúma from 1997 to 1998. He returned to Joinville in 1999 and later played for Bahia in 2000.
Starring in Japan: Vegalta Sendai
One of the most important parts of Marcos Paulo's career was his time in Japan. From 2001 to 2004, he played for Vegalta Sendai. He was a fantastic goal scorer for the team.
In 2001, while playing in the J2 League, he scored an amazing 34 goals in 40 games. This made him the top scorer in the league that year! His goals helped Vegalta Sendai get promoted to the top division, the J1 League.
In 2002, in the J1 League, he continued to score, getting 18 goals in 24 matches. He played a few more games in 2003 and 2004 before returning to Brazil.
