Marcus Garin Tracy (born October 2, 1986) is an American soccer player. He played as a striker, which is a forward position in soccer. Marcus Tracy was born in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania.

Playing Career

College and Youth Soccer

Marcus Tracy grew up in Newtown, Connecticut. He played soccer at Newtown High School. He was named an All-American player there. His number 3 jersey was even retired, which is a big honor! He scored 100 goals during his high school career.

After high school, Marcus played college soccer for Wake Forest University. He was a very important player for their team, the Demon Deacons. In 2007, his team won the 2007 Division I Men's College Cup, which is like the national championship for college soccer. Marcus scored a goal and helped with another in the final game. He was named the best offensive player of that tournament.

In 2008, Marcus won the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy. This award is given to the best male and female college soccer players in the United States. He scored 13 goals and made 10 assists that year. Overall, he played 77 games for Wake Forest, scoring 30 goals and making 23 assists.

Professional Soccer

In 2009, Marcus Tracy was chosen by the Major League Soccer team Houston Dynamo in the SuperDraft. This is where professional teams pick new players. However, he was picked later than expected because he already had a contract with a team in Denmark.

On January 15, 2009, Marcus joined the Danish club Aalborg. He made his first appearance for Aalborg on March 19, 2009. This was in a big European competition called the UEFA Cup. He quickly made an assist in that game. Just a few days later, on March 23, 2009, he scored the winning goal in his first game in the Danish Superliga, which is Denmark's top soccer league.

During the 2009-2010 season, Marcus scored another winning goal against FC Copenhagen. Sadly, he then started having problems with his knees. He suffered from patellar tendinitis, also known as "jumper's knee." This injury kept him from playing for a long time. He missed the rest of that season and much of the next two seasons because of his knee problems.

Because of his injuries, Aalborg decided not to renew his contract in 2011. Marcus spent time getting healthy and hoped to play in Major League Soccer again. In September 2012, he signed a contract with MLS. The San Jose Earthquakes won a special lottery to get him on their team. He played for them until the end of the 2013 season.

International Play

On December 22, 2009, Marcus Tracy was invited to train with the senior U.S. national team. This was a big honor, as it was his first time being called up to any national team. However, his knee problems flared up again. He had to leave the training camp because of his tendinitis. This injury unfortunately kept him from playing for his country.
