Margaret A. Dillard is a talented Native American artist and painter. She is a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation.

Life and Education

Margaret Dillard grew up in Oklahoma. She is part of the Chickasaw Nation. She earned a two-year degree in art from Rose State College. Later, she studied fine arts at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma from 1981 to 1982. She then completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Central Oklahoma. Throughout her life and art career, Margaret has worked to learn more about her Chickasaw background and traditions.

Art Career

Margaret Dillard mostly paints realistic portraits. She uses oil and acrylic paints for her work. Her art often shows her Christian faith. While she mainly paints people, Margaret also makes small sculptures that can hang.

Her artwork was shown at the Chickasaw Nation Welcome Center in 2016. This was part of a show that also featured art by Danny Beaver, who is from the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. In 2019, Margaret was featured on Chickasaw TV in a show called Thrive Traditions. Also in 2019, she won third place for her painting "Jannie's Boy." This award was given at the Artesian Arts Festival in Sulphur, Oklahoma.
