Margaret of Foix (born around 1449 – died May 15, 1486) was a noblewoman who became the Duchess consort of Brittany. She held this important role from 1474 until her death in 1486. She became Duchess by marrying Francis II, Duke of Brittany.

Early Life and Family
Margaret was born around 1449. Her mother was Eleanor of Navarre, who was a queen. Her father was Gaston IV, Count of Foix. This meant Margaret came from a powerful and important family.
Marriage and Becoming Duchess
On June 27, 1471, Margaret married Francis II, Duke of Brittany. The wedding took place at the Château de Clisson. This was Duke Francis's second marriage. His first wife, named Margaret of Brittany, had passed away a few years earlier.
When Margaret of Foix married Duke Francis, she became the Duchess consort of Brittany. This title meant she was the wife of the Duke, sharing his high rank.
Children
Margaret and Duke Francis had two daughters:
Anne of Brittany
- Anne of Brittany (1477–1514) was their first daughter. She later became the Duchess of Brittany herself. Anne was also Queen of France not once, but twice! She was married first to King Charles VIII of France. After he died, she married King Louis XII of France.
Isabeau of Brittany
- Isabeau of Brittany (1478–1490) was their second daughter. She was promised to marry Jean d'Albret when she was young. Sadly, Isabeau died at a young age and was buried in the Rennes Cathedral.
Death and Burial
Margaret of Foix passed away on May 15, 1486. She died at the Château de Nantes in Nantes. She was buried in the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul. Her tomb is a beautiful and grand monument. She rests there alongside her husband, Duke Francis II, and his first wife, Margaret of Brittany.
