About Margo Lanagan
Margo Lanagan grew up in a place called Raymond Terrace. Later, around 1971 or 1972, she moved to Melbourne. After traveling to other countries, she moved to Sydney in 1982.
Her Books and Awards
Many of Margo Lanagan's books were first published in Australia. However, some of her stories have become famous all over the world.
Her collection of short stories, called Black Juice, won some very important awards. It won two World Fantasy Awards. It also received a Printz Honor Award in 2006. This book was published in Australia by Allen & Unwin. It was also released in the United Kingdom and North America.
One of the stories in Black Juice is "Singing My Sister Down". This story was very popular. It was even nominated for the Hugo and Nebula Awards. These are big awards for the best short stories.
Another collection of her short stories is White Time. This book was first published in Australia in 2000. It was later published in North America in 2006. This happened after Black Juice became very successful. White Time was recognized as a 2007 Best Book for Young Adults by the American Library Association.
Margo Lanagan's book Tender Morsels also won a Printz Honor Award in 2009. This was another great achievement for her.

Tender Morsels was also a finalist for the Shirley Jackson Award in 2008. Her novella, which is a short novel, called Sea-Hearts was a finalist in 2009. Tender Morsels won a World Fantasy Award in 2009 for best novel. It was also nominated for the Locus Award for Best Young Adult Book.
In 2010, Sea-Hearts won the World Fantasy Award for Best Novella. This shows how much her writing is appreciated.
Teaching and Workshops
Margo Lanagan also helps other writers. She attended the Clarion West Writers Workshop in 1999. This is a special workshop for writers. She later returned to the workshop as a teacher in 2011 and 2013.
