Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri (Arabic: مريم بنت محمد سعيد حارب المهيري) is an Emirati politician. She currently leads the Office of International Affairs in the Presidential Court. Before this, she was the Minister of Climate Change and Environment for the United Arab Emirates until January 11, 2024.

Her Early Life and Education
Mariam Almheiri was born in 1979. Her father was Emirati and her mother was German. She went to the Latifa School for Girls in Dubai. Later, she studied at RWTH Aachen University in Germany. There, she earned degrees in mechanical engineering. She focused on development and design engineering.
Her Career Journey
After finishing her studies, Mariam Almheiri started working at the Emirati Ministry of Environment and Water. She helped with important projects like the Khalifa Bin Zayed Centre for Marine Research. She also worked on a project to manage waste in the UAE. In 2014, she became the director of the Education and Awareness Department. Her job was to create a plan to teach people in the UAE about protecting the environment.
In 2015, Mariam Almheiri was promoted. She became the assistant undersecretary for water resources and nature conservation affairs. This role was at the Ministry of Climate Change.
Leading on Food Security
In October 2017, Mariam Almheiri became the Minister of State for Food Security. This meant her main focus was making sure the UAE had enough food. In September 2018, she announced plans for 'Food Valley.' This would be a special area in the UAE for new food technology ideas. It was named after Silicon Valley, a famous tech hub.
In January 2019, she helped oversee the Security and Foreign Affairs part of the UAE's National Expert Programme. In the same month, she launched the UAE Food Security Strategy. This was a big plan to make sure the UAE always had enough food.
UAE Food Security Strategy
The UAE Food Security Strategy has five main parts:
- Finding food from many different countries.
- Doing research to grow more food inside the UAE.
- Wasting less food.
- Making sure all food is safe to eat.
- Helping the UAE be ready for any food problems or crises.
The goal of this strategy is to move the UAE up the Global food security index. They aim to go from 31st place to first place by 2051.
Mariam Almheiri has also been a member of the board for the Emirates Equestrian Federation since 2016.
