History of Mariano Acosta

The city of Mariano Acosta was started in the early 1900s. A businessman named Juan Posse founded it. For many years, the town was known as Villa Posse, which means "Posse's Village".

The name changed in 1910. A British railway company, the Buenos Aires Western Railway, opened a train station nearby. They named the station after a famous Argentine politician, Mariano Acosta.

Mariano Acosta (1825-1893) was an important lawyer and politician. He served as the Vice-President of Argentina. He was also a governor of the Buenos Aires Province. The town then took the name of the railway station.
