Mariclare Catherine Costello was an American actress who brought many characters to life on screen. She was also a dedicated member of The Actors Studio, a special place where actors learn and grow. Many people remember her best as Rosemary Hunter Fordwick in the popular TV show The Waltons, which she starred in from 1972 to 1977. After The Waltons, she took on the role of Maggie Fitzpatrick in the TV drama The Fitzpatricks in 1977.

Mariclare Costello was born in Peoria, Illinois, on February 3, 1936. She was married to fellow actor Allan Arbus, and they had one child together.
She appeared in the 1971 film Let's Scare Jessica to Death.
Later in her life, Mariclare shared her acting knowledge by becoming a professor at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
Mariclare Costello passed away in Brooklyn, New York, on April 17, 2026, when she was 90 years old.
