Marigold's Story

Marigold was originally known as Martins. It was a small place where people lived and worked. Even though it's not a town anymore, its name and location are still remembered.

How Marigold Got Its Name

The name Marigold comes from a mining company called the Marysville Gold Mining Company. This company was important in the area, and the settlement was named after it.

A Busy Post Office

For a while, Marigold had its own post office. It operated from 1911 to 1929. A post office is where people send and receive mail. Having a post office usually means a community is active and growing.

Gold in the Area

The area around Marigold was famous for gold. In the early 1900s, a special way of finding gold called dredging was used nearby. This happened in a place known as the Yuba Goldfields. Gold dredging uses large machines to dig up riverbeds and search for gold. This activity brought many people to the region.
