Early Life and Acting Career
Marilù Tolo was born in Rome, Italy. When she was very young, she started working as an assistant. She helped Mario Riva on a TV show called Il Musichiere for RAI, which is Italy's public broadcaster.
First Movie Roles
Marilù Tolo began her movie career at just 16 years old. Her first film was Sweet Deceptions, directed by Alberto Lattuada. This was the start of her long career in cinema.
Almost a Superhero Villain
Later in her career, Marilù Tolo tried out for a big role. She did a screen test for the part of Ursa in the 1978 movie Superman. Ursa was a powerful villain. Even though she was very close, the role eventually went to another actress, Sarah Douglas. You can see Marilù Tolo's screen test on the 2001 DVD release of the Superman movie.
A Friend to Fashion
Besides acting, Marilù Tolo was also a fashion model. She was a close friend of the famous Italian fashion designer Valentino. Valentino once said in an interview that Marilù Tolo was the only woman he had ever truly loved.
