Early Life and School
Marilyn Denis was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on July 1, 1958. She spent her childhood growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States. Marilyn went to the University of Idaho. There, she earned a bachelor's degree. Her studies focused on radio, television, and advertising.
A Career in Broadcasting
Marilyn Denis started her career in broadcasting at a local radio station. This was in Moscow, Idaho. Later, she moved to Calgary, Canada. In Calgary, she worked at radio stations like CHFM-FM and CJAY-FM. She also reported on sports and entertainment. Sometimes, she even announced the weather on TV for CFCN-TV and TSN.
Morning Radio Star
On July 2, 1986, Marilyn became a co-host of the morning show on CHUM-FM. This show has been very popular for many years. It started as Roger, Rick and Marilyn. Later, it became Roger and Marilyn. Today, it is called Marilyn Denis and Jamar. Marilyn has been a part of this show for a very long time.
Hosting CityLine
From 1989 to 2008, Marilyn also hosted a daytime talk show called CityLine. This show was shown on Citytv and A-Channel. She hosted CityLine for 19 years. Eventually, she decided to leave the show. This was because of changes in the media companies she worked for. She wanted to focus on new projects with the CTV Television Network. Her last CityLine show was on May 23, 2008.
The Marilyn Denis Show
In June 2008, Marilyn announced she would host a new show. It was called The Marilyn Denis Show. This show would be on the CTV channel. It started on January 10, 2011. The show became very popular. On April 13, 2023, Marilyn shared that she would be ending the show. The final episode aired on June 9, 2023. She continues to co-host her morning radio show.
Special Recognition
Marilyn Denis has received special honors. Her old university, the University of Idaho, gave her an honorary PhD. This is a special degree that recognizes her achievements. She also gave a speech at the university's graduation ceremony in 2017.
