Marilyn Denis, born on July 1, 1958, is a well-known Canadian television and radio personality. She is famous for hosting her own TV talk show, The Marilyn Denis Show. She also co-hosts a popular morning radio show on CHUM-FM. Marilyn retired from her TV show on June 9, 2023, but she continues to be a big voice on the radio.

Early Life and Education
Marilyn Denis was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. When she was young, she grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States. She went to the University of Idaho and earned a bachelor's degree. Her studies focused on radio, television, and advertising.
Marilyn's Broadcasting Career
Marilyn Denis started her career in broadcasting at a local radio station. This was in Moscow, Idaho. Later, she moved to Calgary, Canada. There, she worked at radio stations like CHFM-FM and CJAY-FM. She also worked as a reporter for sports and entertainment. Sometimes, she even announced the weather on TV for CFCN-TV and TSN.
Radio Success
Since July 2, 1986, Marilyn has been a co-host of the morning show on CHUM-FM. The show was first called Roger, Rick and Marilyn. She worked with Roger Ashby and Rick Hodge. After Rick Hodge left in 2008, it became Roger and Marilyn. Roger Ashby retired in December 2018.
Marilyn still hosts the morning show on Chum 1045. You can hear “The Marilyn Denis Show” from 5 AM to 9 AM. Her co-host on the radio is David Corey.
Television Hosting
From September 5, 1989, to May 23, 2008, Marilyn also hosted a daytime talk show called CityLine. This show was shown on Citytv and A-Channel. She hosted Cityline for 19 years.
Later, the company CTVglobemedia bought CHUM Limited. Because of this, Marilyn ended up working for two different media companies at the same time. To fix this, she decided to leave Cityline. She wanted to work on new projects with the CTV Television Network. Her last Cityline show was on May 23, 2008.
In June 2008, Marilyn announced she would host a new show. It was called The Marilyn Denis Show on CTV. The show was supposed to start in the fall of 2010. However, due to studio construction, it premiered on January 10, 2011. On April 13, 2023, she announced that her TV show would end on June 9, 2023. She continued to co-host her CHUM radio morning show.
Awards and Recognition
Marilyn Denis has received many awards for her work. In 2005 and 2006, she won the Viewer's Choice Award at the Gemini Awards. In 2007, she won a Gemini Award for Best Host. This was for her work on Cityline.
The Marilyn Denis Show also won awards. It was named Best Talk Program at the Canadian Screen Awards in 2016 and 2018.
In 2006, Marilyn received the "Rosalie Award" from Canadian Music Week. This award is named after Rosalie Trombley, a famous Canadian radio pioneer. In 2017, Marilyn made history. She became the first female broadcaster to get the Allan Waters Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is given at Canadian Music Week.
In 2024, Marilyn was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. This was from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. She also became a Member of the Order of Ontario.
Personal Life
Marilyn Denis lives in downtown Toronto. On May 8, 2018, Marilyn shared some exciting news. She announced that she was engaged to Jim Helman. He was her high-school prom date! They got married on June 19, 2018.
Marilyn has a son named Adam Wylde. He was born in 1988. Adam used to be a morning host on the radio in Toronto. Now, he is the CEO and Head of Content & Partnerships at the Steve Dangle Podcast Network.
