Marivan is a city in Iran. It is located in the Kurdistan Province. Marivan is the capital of Marivan County. It is also the capital of the Central District within that county. The city is sometimes called Mariwan or Qale Marivan. In the past, it was known as Dezhe Shapur. Marivan was founded in the 1950s. It sits at an elevation of 1,310 meters (about 4,300 feet) above sea level.
