Mark Ettinger's Early Life
Mark Ettinger was born in Manhattan, a busy part of New York City. He started learning music at a young age by taking piano lessons. As a teenager, he played keyboards and bass guitar in several local bands. Some of these bands included Joey Miserable and the Worms, The Special Guests, and David Peel and the Lower East Side.
After high school, Mark went to Columbia University. There, he studied music, philosophy, and literature. He then earned a master's degree in music composition and conducting from Mannes College of Music. He even taught as a professor at Mannes for several years. Later, he got an exciting offer to join the Flying Karamazov Brothers.
Juggling with the Flying Karamazov Brothers
In 1998, Mark Ettinger joined the Flying Karamazov Brothers. This group is famous around the world for their amazing juggling acts. Mark was chosen because of his musical skills and his experience performing on stage. He was given the stage name Alexei Karamazov.
His first show with the Karamazov Brothers was called L'Universe, which used a lot of technology. He also performed in other shows like Catch! and Life: A Guide For The Perplexed. Mark was often the conductor for various orchestras in their "Orchestra Shows." He led famous groups such as the Seattle Symphony, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and the Dallas Symphony.

In 2005, Mark Ettinger released his first music CD, titled In This World. This album features many original songs written by Mark. It also includes performances by various guest artists. The music on the CD mixes different styles, from folk to rock and blues.
The album In This World was co-produced by David Seitz, who has worked with many well-known musicians. Several famous musicians also played on Mark's recordings. These include Steven Bernstein, Kenny Wollesen, and Doug Wieselman.
