Markham is a small community in Matagorda County, Texas, in the United States. It's called a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it's a special area used for gathering population information.

Markham was founded in 1901 and was first named Cortes. It got its current name in 1903, honoring Charles H. Markham. He was an important railroad engineer. By 1914, Markham became a stop on the Texas and New Orleans Railroad. In 2020, about 908 people lived there.
