Marko Kristian Lehtosalo (born 1 January 1975), known by his stage name Markoolio, is a Swedish-Finnish singer, songwriter, rapper, actor, and comedian. His stage name, Markoolio, combines his first name Marko with the name of the American rapper Coolio.
About Markoolio
Marko Lehtosalo was born in Lahti, Finland. When he was six months old, his family moved from Finland to Sweden. He grew up in Orminge, a small suburb of Stockholm, where he went to school.
Markoolio became famous for his funny songs. These songs often talk about everyday life and popular trends. Some of his well-known songs include "Sommar och sol" (meaning "Summer and sun") and "Vi drar till fjällen" ("We're heading for the mountains"). He also has songs about his home country, Finland, like "Drömmen om Finland" (The dream of Finland).
Markoolio has released nine studio albums. He has also been a host and participant in many TV and radio shows. He has won several awards, including Male Artist of the Year at the Swedish Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards in 2007.
He was one of the hosts for the show Talang (which means "Talent") on TV4 in 2009. Markoolio also played the main character in the show Doktor Mugg. He also starred as Tyke Mörbult in Hem till Midgård. In 2013, Markoolio was a contestant on Let's Dance 2013, a dance competition that he won with his dance partner Cecilia Ehrling.
In 2013, Markoolio tried to wake up the Portugal national football team before an important soccer game. He started a "private concert" early in the morning outside their hotel.
