The Marl Mountains are a small mountain range. You can find them in the Mojave National Preserve. This preserve is in eastern California, United States. The mountains are northeast of the Kelso Mountains. They are also just east of Kelbaker Road. This road connects the town of Baker to the small community of Kelso, California.

Discovering the Marl Mountains

The Marl Mountains are quite small. They are only about four miles long. This makes them one of the smallest mountain ranges in the country. Another small range nearby is the Beale Mountains to the east.

The Historic Mojave Road

Many people visit the Marl Mountains. They often travel along the historic Mojave Road. This old wagon trail passes by a special spot called Marl Spring. Marl Spring is on the east side of the mountains.

Marl Spring: A Desert Oasis

Marl Spring was very important long ago. It gave water to travelers crossing the dry Mojave Desert. Even today, the cistern at Marl Spring often holds water. If you visit, remember to treat the water with a filter before drinking it. This makes sure it is safe.
