Maroun Bagdadi (born January 21, 1950 – died December 10, 1993) was a famous Lebanese film director. He was well-known for showing the Lebanese civil war in his movies in a very real way.

Bagdadi was the most internationally recognized Lebanese filmmaker of his time. He even worked with the famous American producer and director Francis Coppola. Maroun Bagdadi also made several films in French that became very popular in France.

About Maroun Bagdadi's Films

Maroun Bagdadi was one of Lebanon's most important filmmakers. His movies were seen and appreciated all over the world.

One of his best-known films was Little Wars. This movie was shown at the 1982 Cannes Film Festival. A film critic praised it for focusing on human issues rather than just politics.

His first project in Lebanon was for television. It was an educational program called . In 1975, he directed his first full-length movie, Beyrouth Ya Beyrouth.

In 1979, Bagdadi made a 75-minute documentary called Koullouna Lil Watan. This film won a special award at the International Leipzig Festival for Documentaries.

Maroun Bagdadi passed away on December 10, 1993. He was 43 years old. He died after an accidental fall at his home in Beirut. He was survived by his wife, Soraya, and their three children. Soraya continued her acting career after his death.
