Marshall, Ohio facts for kids
Marshall is a small community located in Highland County, Ohio, in the United States. It's known as an "unincorporated community," which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Marshall is found where two state roads, Route 124 and Route 506, meet.
Just a short distance north of Marshall, about 2 miles (3 km) away, you'll find Rocky Fork Lake. This lake is part of Rocky Fork State Park, a great place for outdoor activities. Marshall is also about 7 miles (11 km) east-southeast of Hillsboro, which is the main city and county seat of Highland County. A long time ago, Marshall was sometimes called West Liberty.
A Proud Sports History
Marshall has a special place in its history for sports. The basketball team from Marshall High School, known as the Red Flashes, achieved something amazing in 1928. They became the Class B State Basketball Champions! Because of their big win, a new gymnasium was built in 1931 at what used to be the high school and elementary school.
Notable People from Marshall
Charles P. Cary
One important person who came from Marshall is Charles P. Cary. He was a well-known educator who served as the Wisconsin Superintendent of Public Instruction. This job meant he was in charge of public education for the entire state of Wisconsin.
