Marshall Laverne Bullock II is an American politician. He was a member of the Michigan Senate from 2019 to 2023. He belongs to the Democratic Party. Today, he works as the Director of Government Affairs for the City of Detroit.

Early Life and Education
Marshall Bullock grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He was an Eagle Scout, which is the highest rank in the Boy Scouts. He also joined a fraternity called Omega Psi Phi.
He went to Detroit Public Schools. Later, he studied at the University of Phoenix. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services. This degree helps people work with communities.
Helping the Community
Before becoming a senator, Bullock worked to help people. He focused on public health, which means keeping communities healthy. He also worked in juvenile justice, helping young people who have been in trouble.
From 2014 to 2016, he worked for the Mayor of Detroit. His job was to listen to people's concerns. He helped citizens (people living in the city) with their problems. After that, he became the Director of Community and Political Affairs. He held this job until he was elected to the State Senate.
Serving in the Michigan Senate
In 2018, Marshall Bullock ran for the Michigan State Senate. He won the election by a large number of votes. He represented the 4th Senate district.
While in office, he led the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus. This group works to support African American lawmakers. They also focus on issues important to the Black community in Michigan.
Changes to Districts
Every ten years, after the U.S. Census, states redraw their political maps. This is to make sure each district has about the same number of people. In 2021, Michigan's maps were redrawn.
This change meant Bullock's district became very different. He and another senator, Mallory McMorrow, ended up in the same new district. Bullock's new district covered only a small part of his old one. Senator McMorrow won the primary election for this new district. A primary election is when people choose who will represent their party in the main election.
Current Role in Detroit
After leaving the Michigan Senate in 2023, Bullock returned to work for the City of Detroit. He now serves as the Director of Government Affairs. In this role, he works to make sure the city's needs are heard. He talks to state and federal lawmakers about what Detroit needs.
