Marshland is a small community located in Columbia County, Oregon, in the United States. It's known as an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own city government like a town or city.
For a while, this area had a funny name: Skunk Cabbage Flat.
Marshland's Story: A Look Back
The first person to settle in Marshland was Z.B. Bryant, who arrived in 1862. This was a time when many people were moving west to start new lives.
Later, around 1873, Marshland got its very own post office. This was a big deal because it made it easier for people to send and receive mail. However, the post office eventually closed its doors in 1960.
