The Marstons Mills Community Church is a historic building in the village of Marstons Mills, which is part of Barnstable, Massachusetts. It used to be known as the Methodist Church.
This white church was first built in Yarmouth. It was then moved to Marstons Mills in 1830. A small tower with a bell, called a belfry, was added later. This happened between 1888 and 1908. Around the same time, it got some fancy Queen Anne style details. In 1987, the church was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This is because of its unique design and its important role in the community's past.

About the Church Building
The Marstons Mills Community Church is located on the south side of Main Street. It's a short distance northeast of where Main Street meets Cotuit Road. This road is also known as Massachusetts Route 149.
The church is a one-story building made of wood. It has a roof that slopes down on the front and back, like a triangle. The outside walls are covered with white wooden boards called clapboard. A small entrance room sticks out from the front of the church. This room also has a triangular roof. The main door has a simple frame and a fully triangular top, like a classic Greek temple.
The Church Tower
The church has a square tower that rises up. It starts partly from the entrance room and partly from the main building. The tower has several sections. Some parts are narrower, and some stick out more. The top part is the belfry, where the bells are. It has two rounded arch openings on each side. The very top of the tower has a pyramid-shaped roof that flares out. A weather vane sits on top of this roof.
Special Windows
The windows next to the entrance room are quite decorative. They have special patterns in their glass panes. This fancy style is called Queen Anne and can also be seen on the windows of the church doors.
History of the Church
The Methodist group in Marstons Mills officially started in 1826. However, people had been meeting in private homes even earlier, since about 1819. This very church building was brought from Yarmouth in 1830. It was pulled by oxen to become their main meeting place.
Changes Over Time
Over 150 years, the church building changed quite a bit. The most noticeable changes were the Queen Anne style additions to the tower. Also, a military barracks building that was no longer needed was moved here. It became the church's parish hall, a place for community events.
In 1968, the Marstons Mills church joined with the church in Osterville. Because of this, the Marstons Mills building was closed. But in 1981, it was reopened. It became the Marstons Mills Community Church, which welcomes people of all faiths.
