Martín Carrillo Alderete was an important leader in the Catholic Church in Spain. He was born in 1576 and passed away on June 29, 1653. During his life, he held several high positions. These included serving as the Archbishop of Granada and also as a Bishop in other cities.

Martín Carrillo Alderete's Early Life and Career

Martín Carrillo Alderete was born in a city called Toledo, which is in Spain. He began his journey in the church and rose through its ranks.

In 1633, he was chosen to become the Bishop of Oviedo. This appointment was made by Pope Urban VIII, who was the leader of the Catholic Church at that time. On May 20, 1633, he officially became a bishop. This special ceremony was led by Domingo Pimentel Zúñiga, who was the Bishop of Osma.

Becoming a Bishop in Different Cities

Martín Carrillo Alderete continued his work in the church. In 1636, Pope Urban VIII appointed him to a new role. He became the Bishop of Osma. He served in this position for several years.

Later, in 1641, he received an even higher appointment. Pope Urban VIII chose him to be the Archbishop of Granada. This was a very important role in the Catholic Church in Spain. He continued to serve as the Archbishop of Granada until his death in 1653.
