What is a Cathedral?

A cathedral is a very large and important church, often the main church of a city. These buildings are usually very old and can take hundreds of years to build or repair.

Working on Málaga Cathedral

José Martín de Aldehuela was asked by the bishop of Málaga, named Molina Larios, to help finish rebuilding the city's big cathedral. He arrived in Málaga in 1778. He was in charge of the rebuilding work, making sure everything was done correctly.

Besides the cathedral, he also worked on many other smaller projects in Málaga. He designed and built parts of other churches and important structures in the city. One of his most important projects was the aqueduct of San Telmo. An aqueduct is like a giant water pipe or channel that carries water from one place to another. This aqueduct was super important for bringing water to the people of Málaga.
