Manzanera is a charming small town and municipality in Spain. It is located in the province of Teruel, which is part of the Aragon region. Manzanera is also part of an area called Gúdar-Javalambre. About 540 people live here. It's quite close to the Javalambre ski area, which is a fun place for winter sports!

Exploring Manzanera's Location

Manzanera is a town found in the southern part of the Aragon region. It sits high up, about 960 m (3,150 ft) above sea level. This area is part of the Sierra de Javalambra mountain range.

Mountains and Climate

The Sierra de Javalambra is home to some of the tallest points in the Teruel province. It's also one of the highest parts of the Iberian System, a major mountain range in Spain. Manzanera is quite close to the Province of Castellón. The town has a continental Mediterranean climate. This means winters are cold, but summers are usually mild and pleasant.

Nearby Villages and Homes

The municipality of Manzanera includes several smaller settlements. Besides the main town, you'll find places like Los Cerezos, Alcotas, El Paúl, Los Olmos, Las Alhambras, and Paraíso Bajo. There are also some uninhabited neighborhoods, such as Torre de Alcotas and Torre de los Peones. You might also see many traditional country houses, called masías, scattered around the area.

Getting There

Manzanera is about 50 km (31 mi) from the city of Teruel. It's also about 110 km (68 mi) from Valencia, a larger city. The closest major highways are the A-23 and N-234. These highways are only about 10 km (6.2 mi) away from the town, making it easy to reach.

Rivers and Waterways

The Albentosa River flows through Manzanera. This river is a tributary, meaning it flows into, the larger Mijares River. The Albentosa River actually forms just one kilometer before it reaches Manzanera. It's created when two smaller rivers, the Torrijas and Los Olmos, join together. The Torrijas River itself has just received water from another small river called the Paraíso.
