Marta Higueras's Early Life and Career
Marta Higueras was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1964. She started her career working in the courts of Plaza de Castilla in Madrid. Later, she worked for the General Council of the Judiciary. This is a very important group that helps manage the Spanish court system. She was in charge of a special office section there for five years.
Marta also worked in the Basque Country. She was an adviser for justice matters. In 2009, she became the Director of Justice and Public Administration. She held this role until 2013, during the time when Patxi López was the leader of the Basque government. She was also part of a group that focused on issues affecting children and teenagers in the Basque Country.
Before joining the City Council of Madrid, Marta worked at the Tribunal de Cuentas. This is like a special court that checks how public money is spent. She was a secretary to a counsellor there.
Joining Ahora Madrid
In May 2015, there were elections for the City Council of Madrid. Marta Higueras was number seven on the list for a political group called Ahora Madrid.

Since June 2015, Marta Higueras served as the Deputy Mayor for Madrid. She was also a city councillor. In this role, she was in charge of the Department of Equality, Social Rights, and Employment. She worked hard to improve the lives of people in Madrid.
