Martial Cottle Park is a special place in San Jose, California. It's a large park that covers about 287 acres. That's like 200 football fields! This park is being created by two groups working together: the California Department of Parks and Recreation and Santa Clara County Parks. It's a great spot for people to enjoy nature and learn about farming history.
History of Martial Cottle Park
Martial Cottle Park has a very interesting past. For many years, it was a working farm. The Cottle family owned and farmed this land for four generations. That means great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, and children all worked on this same farm!
The park is located in South San Jose. It's surrounded by streets like Branham Lane, Snell Avenue, and Chynoweth Avenue. Even though it's now in a busy area with homes and shops, it used to be all farmland. Today, the land is owned together by the California Department of Parks and Recreation and the County of Santa Clara Parks and Recreation Department. They are working to turn this historic farm into a wonderful park for everyone to visit and enjoy.
