Bringing Back Lost Music
Martin Dillon worked hard to bring back the forgotten music of Robert Kahn. Kahn was a German-Jewish composer and pianist. His music had been lost for many years.
Dillon's efforts were noticed by musicians and experts around the world. He made two important recordings of Kahn's music. These were called Jungbrunnen (which means Fountain of Youth) and Der Liebe Macht (meaning The Power of Love). These recordings were the first time this music had ever been released. Sadly, Dillon passed away before he could finish recording a third album.
A Talented Performer
Martin Dillon was known worldwide for his beautiful singing voice. He performed many times at Carnegie Hall in New York. This is a very famous concert hall.
He sang in over 40 different opera roles. He performed in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
His Final Performance
Martin Dillon passed away on August 21, 2005. This was about 12 hours after he gave a concert. The concert was part of the Central Vermont Chamber Music Festival. He died because of a cardiac arrest, which is when the heart suddenly stops working.
