About Marty Jackson
Marty Jackson is a trained Arborist, which means he is an expert in caring for trees. He looks up to Jackie Christiansen, a famous shot put thrower from Denmark. Marty trains very hard to stay strong and fit for his sports.
Gridiron Football Career
Before becoming a Paralympic athlete, Marty played gridiron football for the Geelong Buccaneers club. He was a representative player for Victoria in 2010 and 2012. Marty was even inducted into the Geelong Buccaneers' 'Ring of Champions'. This honored his tough style of play on the field. He was also the first person to receive a Life Membership from the club. During a game, Marty got an injury that affected his left leg. This injury led him to discover new sports.
Athletics Achievements
Marty Jackson started competing in track and field athletics in 2014. He focused on throwing events like discus, shot put, and javelin.
2016 Athletics Highlights
In 2016, Marty represented Australia at the Oceania Melanesian Regional Athletics Championships in Fiji. He was named the team captain for the Australian Athletics team at this event. Marty won a gold medal in the Ambulant Shot Put at the championships. Later that year, he received the Barwon Sports Academy Lee Troop Award.
2017 World Championships

At the 2018 Commonwealth Games held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Marty Jackson won a silver medal. He achieved this in the Men's F38 Shot Put event with a throw of 13.74 meters. This was a significant achievement for him.
2019 World Championships
In 2019, Marty competed at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai. He won a bronze medal in the Men's Shot Put F38. He also set a new personal best throw of 15.14 meters at this event.
