Martin Krause (born June 17, 1853 – died August 2, 1918) was a talented German musician. He was a concert pianist, a piano teacher, a music critic, and a writer.

Martin Krause's Musical Journey
Martin Krause was born in a place called Lobstädt in Saxony, Germany. He was the youngest son of a choirmaster and schoolmaster. From a young age, he studied music. He went to a teacher training college in Borna and later to the famous Leipzig Conservatory. There, he learned from important teachers like Wenzel and Reinecke.
Krause started performing in concerts around 1878. However, he had to stop playing for a while because of health issues.
Becoming a Pupil of Franz Liszt
In 1882, Martin Krause became a student of the legendary composer and pianist Franz Liszt. Liszt was one of the greatest pianists of all time. Krause learned a lot from Liszt and became one of his most important supporters. He helped share Liszt's musical ideas with others.
Teaching and Writing
After studying with Liszt, Krause became a well-known piano teacher and writer about music in Leipzig. He even helped start the Franz-Liszt-Verein, an association dedicated to Liszt's work.
Later, he taught music in other cities too. From 1900, he taught in Dresden. In 1901, he became a professor at the Royal Academy of Music in Munich. He also taught at the Stern Conservatory in Berlin for many years, from 1896 to 1911.

Besides promoting Liszt's music, Krause was also known for his amazing performances of music by Beethoven.
Martin Krause passed away on August 2, 1918, in Plattling. He was one of the many people who died during the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic.
