Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Martin Luther McCoy grew up in San Francisco, California. He lived in a neighborhood called Bayview-Hunters Point.
From a young age, Martin Luther was surrounded by music. His parents were religious, so he learned choir hymns. At the same time, he started playing the piano. He also listened to different kinds of music, like the sounds of Parliament Funkadelic. These different styles helped him create his own unique sound. He taught himself to play the drums and more piano, adding many instruments to his music.
Martin Luther went to college while working on his music. He studied Media Arts at Morehouse College. He focused on Entertainment Law and Marketing and graduated in 1992.
