About Cody Chesnutt
Cody Chesnutt creates music that mixes different styles. These include rock, funk, soul, hip hop, and blues. He moved to Los Angeles and worked with a record company. There, he wrote and produced songs for a music group.
Cody also had a band called The Crosswalk. After the band broke up, Cody released his own album in 2002. It was called The Headphone Masterpiece. He recorded this album in his bedroom using a special recorder. He called his recording space "The Sonic Promiseland."
A Big Hit Song
Cody became very well-known in 2002. The hip hop group The Roots remade one of his songs. It was called "The Seed" from his album. The new version was named "The Seed (2.0)". Cody played guitar and sang on this song. He also appeared in its music video. The video was played a lot on TV channels like MTV.
At that time, Cody's band included drummer Craig Waters and bassist Aaron Ebensperger. In 2003, Cody Chesnutt was nominated for the Shortlist Music Prize. He performed at the award ceremony in Los Angeles.
Cody's Other Projects
In 2006, Cody appeared in a music movie called Dave Chappelle's Block Party. He also recorded a song called "Boils" for an album that same year.
Cody released a shorter music collection, called an EP, in 2010. It was titled Black Skin No Value. He also announced that his next big album, Landing On A Hundred, would be released in 2012.
In 2012, Cody Chesnutt performed live on a TV show in the UK. He sang three of his songs: "Til I Met Thee," "Under the Spell of the Handout," and "That's Still Mama."
In 2020, Cody wrote and performed an original song for the Pixar movie Soul. The song was called "Parting Ways."
