Martin Tyler is a famous English football commentator. He was born on September 14, 1945. For many years, he was the main voice for Sky Sports, covering exciting matches like the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League. He also worked on other big football events around the world.
Before joining Sky Sports in 1990, Martin Tyler commentated for ITV during the 1970s and 1980s. Many young football fans might know his voice from the popular FIFA video game series, where he was a commentator from 2005 until 2019. In 2003, he was even voted the best Premier League commentator of the decade!

Besides his work as a commentator, Martin Tyler also has a passion for coaching football. He has worked with several teams alongside manager Alan Dowson.
Early Coaching Roles
In 2005, he started coaching at Walton & Hersham. After that, he continued to work with Alan Dowson at other clubs like Kingstonian and Hampton & Richmond Borough.
Coaching at Woking
In May 2018, Martin Tyler joined Dowson at Woking, a team in the National League. This was special for him because he had supported Woking since he was a young boy. He stayed with the Surrey-based club for four years. When Alan Dowson left Woking in February 2022, Martin Tyler also decided to leave.
Recent Coaching Work
After leaving Woking, Tyler teamed up with Dowson again for the 2022–23 season. He became a coach at Dartford. More recently, during the 2023–24 season, he had a short coaching role with Dowson at Hemel Hempstead Town.
