Marvin Antonio Chávez (born November 3, 1983) is a former professional footballer from Honduras. He was known for playing as a midfielder, especially as a winger. People sometimes called him "el hijo del viento," which means "the son of the wind."

Marvin Chávez's Football Journey

Marvin Chávez started his football career in Honduras. He played for teams like Victoria and Marathón. His talent soon caught the eye of teams in the United States.

Playing in Major League Soccer

In August 2009, Chávez joined FC Dallas in Major League Soccer (MLS) on a loan. He quickly became a key player for the team. In 2010, he helped FC Dallas reach the MLS Cup final, which is a very big achievement. He played for 105 minutes in that final game.

Chávez continued to play well in 2011. He was even named to the MLS Team of the Week multiple times. This honor is given to players who have outstanding performances.

In December 2011, Chávez moved to the San Jose Earthquakes. He had a fantastic season in 2012 with his new team. He played in 27 league games and helped score 3 goals. He also made 13 assists, which means he helped his teammates score many goals. His great play helped the Earthquakes win the 2012 Supporters Shield. This award goes to the team with the best regular season record.

After his time in San Jose, Chávez was traded to the Colorado Rapids in January 2014. However, he didn't play much there. He soon moved to Chivas USA in May 2014.

Later Career and Retirement

In 2015, Chávez joined the NASL team San Antonio Scorpions. He played 27 matches for them. The Scorpions team stopped playing in December 2015. In 2016, he signed with a new team called Rayo OKC, also in the NASL.

He later returned to Marathón in 2017. Marvin Chávez officially retired from professional football after a long and successful career.
